Mixing up horse tack?
When I handle a horse, I tend to rein it English style. Does it matter if I use Western Tack on it? I dont plan to event, or anything, and my horse will only be used as a pleasure horse, for riding and such.Will it confuse the horse at all? I'm asking, because I'm able to get good Western Tack for free. Obviously, free tack vs. 1k tack is an obvious choice..
You may, I usually feel more comfortable on top of my horse as I rein them English Style, just to warm up for Western - but during a show if you decided to go into a Western Class, you have to rein your horse however your bit must be reined with... usually Western Style.
All and all, it should not affect the horse's ability to do English or Western. Like you mentioned, free tack is the way to go, and if it doesn't work out - the worst thing that would happen would be that you would just re-sell the tack, and buy some nice English with the extra money. It's a good choice, you should go for it :]

I just bought a new saddle this year and im 16 5'4 and 105lbs so about the same as you, a 14" would be to small but not by much but i bought a 15" and it fits me perfect its a nice comfy fit. also there is a website i found that has a measuring thing ill put on in a minute

sorry i couldnt find the website but you are pretty much my size so get a 15" trust me they are perfect for us small fit girls
