English or western stlye riding ?
I live in ireland and it's 99% english style in riding schools ,pony clubs ,trail rides ect...it's actually easier to find someone to teach you to ride side saddle than to teach you to ride western style (i got lessons and hunted side saddle for a day never felt more secure oddly enough
try it !!! ) I'd love to try western too . I could be wrong but it seems that in america especially both are well practiced so did you have a choice of which one you wanted to do ?
It really depends where in America you'd live. In some parts of the country, (some Texas regions especially) it's primarily Western. When I first started getting lessons I was given a choice, I chose English; I wanted to jump, and I just like the feel of the saddle better. I did learn western later, but I still prefer English!
But here in America, either way of riding is found pretty much everywhere, from what I've seen anyway. Many local horse shows have events with both forms of riding. Western is fun though, barrel racing, roping, cutting, etc. No matter which way you ride, it's still fun and amazing, and I wouldn't ever give it up!
I hope you find someone who's able to teach you Western! =)
