What is the difference between roper boots and regular western styles?
Ropers have a tow that is rounder than western also the heel isn't as high.

What kind of breeches don't need half chaps?
What type? I am new to English riding and want to get a pair of breeches but don't want to bother with half chaps for now. Don't need them.
I have seen breeches with knee patches and others that have a full patch for the seat, too.
Which do I get that allow me to not bother getting half chaps?
Also....which ones would you recommend that are Boot Cut? I don't want the straight leg, I'll be wearing the cut off boots (paddock boots) not the full size tall boots.
Would breeches (boot cut) look good with roper (western) boots, too? Or even if it's a boot cut, will they be too tight to look ok? I'd like to ride western, too with these. Unless it looks amazingly stupid, then I'll just wear my jeans.
What is your favorite brand and why?

You don't *have* to ride in half chaps. Plenty of people don't. However, I would still highly recommend that you buy them. They can make an amazing difference in your riding: they help you grip the saddle, and can keep your breeches/jeans from bunching up when you ride.
The difference between knee patch and full seat breeches is minimal. Traditionally, dressage riders wear full seats while hunters and jumpers wear knee patches. Which one you get depends on the discipline you do, or the one that you feel works better for you when you are riding.
If you can, I would recommend that you buy some jodhpurs as they are designed to be worn with paddock boots. However, this may be difficult depending on your age. Mostly only younger riders wear jodhpurs. I have seen adult jodhpurs advertised before, but I'm not sure how well they work. Sorry.
The only way to know how the breeches/jodhpurs would work with western boots is to try them. And I don't really have a "favorite brand" when it comes to breeches. I just wear whatever fits me well and is in my price range. Currently, I have two pairs of breeches. Both are Tuffriders.
Leave the eyelets always laced. Take the two laces between your fingers – one between index and middle and one between middle and ring – with your fingers facing down and your palm towards your leg. Go to the side and catch the first hook and then cross over to the other side to catch the hook on the other side. Continue up until they are all hooked and tie yer boots!
