Explain why you could not use an oak leaf in this investigation. ?
The experiment was using a compound light microscope and looking at the cells of an onion and also human cheek cells. Why would you not use a oak leaf? Because it is to thick and possibly dry?
Cells in an onion can be peeled into very thin layers, and human cheek cells can be swabbed from your mouth. Both of these are easy to visualize on a light microscope since the light will pass right through them. Oak leaves are too thick and will block the light, preventing you from seeing much of anything useful under the microscope.
