Buying sweatshirt fabric or sweatshirt fleece online?

I need to make a zip up hoodie for a college level sewing class and was wondering if someone could help me find a site that sold sweatshirt fleece with matching ribbing online. I've searched all the regulars, JoAnns and Hancock and haven't had any success. The colors I'm looking for particularly are purple or like a mustard yellow...any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm going to send you to Anne St. Clair at Needlenook Fabrics, in Wichita, Kansas. Fleece and matching ribbing are, unfortunately, quite rare. Anne's got nice stuff and one of the best selections I know of -- her website is almost nonexistant, so just call and talk to her, or email:

The other hitch you're going to run into is matching zipper. If Anne doesn't have one, try Stan's, Zippersource and Zipperstop.

The only company I know of right now that's doing dyed to match interlock, fleece, and ribbing for consumers is Siltex. http://www.siltex.com/catalog.php?cat=83 It's good stuff, but hard to find someone selling it. And I don't recall seeing mustard yellow in any of their sweatshirt fleece in the last few years, but there is a violet in the current catalog.

I bought some double sided fleece but it keeps shedding like crazy when I cut it to sew it. Help?

I bought double sided black fleece at Walmart yesterday and then made a run a fabric store to buy red and purple of the same sort of material. Whenever I cut any of it, bits fly everywhere. I am trying to sew hats out of it so my main concern is if I don't find a solution to this shedding will I remove my hat to find my hair covered in fuzz? Does anyone out there with more sewing experience than me know how to resolve this?

im not a seamstress or anything but ive applied fabric to walls and what not in my career as a remodeler, i would prob try and cut it a little long and use a lighter to seal the edges to keep it from fraying....try at test piece first to see what it would look like when flame is applied to it, some times it seals it without discoloration and sometimes it turns it black....if its an area that can be hidden it should be fine, you might also ask around at a local fabric shop, im sure they are full of ideas for solutions(i.e. changing the cutting method)
