What training now with my colt?
I have a 8 month old colt. We have been working with him since day 1 and he is halter broke so far. I can pick his feet and he loves to just stand to be brushed. We have been working with him on being tied and hes getting better but when hes tied he doesnt wanna give me his feet very nice. He leads ok but he does still pull a bit when hes going to the arena to be turned out. He also has had a blanket and small pony saddle on him when he was 3 months and has also had a bareback pad on him and Iv walked him around. So what else can I do to work with him?
There is lots of stuff you can do with your little guy. I taught my guy to tie and cross tie before he was weaned. I started him by just poking his lead rope through the bars on a stall door so there was some resistance if he pulled, but he still wouldnt get caught. With his feet, practice makes perfect. Juyst keep doing it, and always end on a good note. When you ask for him to pick up his feet try a voice command. I tell my weanling to "give it" and with a little squeeze he picks his feet right up. There is this great harness called the miracle harness that Jeffers Equine sells. That will help you with any problems with leading.
Get him used to anything that may spook him. Tarps, noisy bags, etc. Handle his ears a lot so he isnt a pain down the road when he needs them clipped. Teach him to back up on the lead, side pass, turn on the forehand, turn on the haunches. Handle his mouth, take his temp, handle his boy parts so he doesnt freak when he needs his sheath cleaned. Also get him used to being led from both the right and left side. Teach him how to load into a trailer while he is still smaller. Thats all I can think of for now. Good luck!

I got a bareback pad!
How small is too small of a horse for me?
Hi I am looking at a indian pony for light riding. She is three years old and 13 hands in height. I am 119 pounds but rather tall at 5'6 is she going to be too little for me. I am looking for a horse just to ride around the property and help in training the other horses I have down the road after her training is finished. I don't plan to use a saddle but maybe a bareback pad from time to time.
Our litte POA is 12.2 and doesn't look too bad witha 5'7" rider. They are generally very srong and hardy like said. OUrs can hual 230 lbs for a 5 hour ride and still have plenty of go at the end. The 20% rule doesn't follow through well or nobody'd be able to ride double and nobody over 180 lbs would be able to ride in a heavy western saddle. Go tell some big 6'4" 230 lb cowboy he'll have to give up his stocky foundation quarter horse and rope off a draft horse! If she's what you want go for it.
