Help with cleaning braided reins? I just can't get them clean!!?
My pony's bridle broke and my trainer gave me one of her old ones. Its actually a pretty decent bridle, but the reins are just so disgusting! I've cleaned them 3 times and they're STILL dirty. Like you can see dirt on them. I keep them off the ground on a bridle rack with my stuff, so its not like other people are using them and throwing them on the ground.
They're braided reins, so they're really hard to get clean. How can I get them to be clean? Do I just keep scrubbing? I don't want to dry out the leather. I take a glycerin bar and a tooth brush, scrub them for atleast an hour, and then condition them. If I had them with me I'd take a picture and show you just how yucky they are. Help?

Scrub brush and hot soapy water, dry with a towel, rub liberally with oil, hang on the shower head in the bathroom to dry.
