Can I use a quarter horse for endurance?
I know they (quarter horses) are meant for going short distances, and for barrel racing and stuff. But I am really interested in endurance riding but i don't have an arabian just a purebred foundation quarterhorse. Would i be able to do endurance riding on a quarterhorse and get far with it? Or would i be no match to the arabian horses? (on hidalgo the guy rode a mustang in the arab desert and won! its based on a true story lol!)
YES MAAM! my quarter horse savannah is EXCELLENT doing endurance with me! are you crazy? quarter horses are the absolute best for trail riding and endurance. they are hardy and wil never fail you. id never think twice of using any other breed except a quarter horse to compete with me in endurance.

How do I know whether my mustang is a Spanish Mustang or not?
I've only had him for a week so I don't know much about him (other than the fact he has to be the gentlest, most good-natured, and willing almost-from-the-wild horse in the universe). I'd love to know how to determine it. I hear they're good for endurance and I'd love to be able to take him out eventually on an endurance ride with my friends arabs that go.
The term "Spanish Mustang" just refers to the horses that were brought over by the Spanish explorers who as some point got free and lived in the wild. The horses brought over by the Spanish were a combination of Spanish Barb, Arabian, Lustiano and Andalusian among others. Those horses formed the basis of the Mustangs in America today. Other breeds have been introduced to the wild herds now, distinguishing between a Spanish Mustang and a BLM Mustang, but they both share the same characteristics of endurance and sure-footedness. Although there is a difference between the Spanish mustang and the BLM mustang there are many BLM mustangs that retain a large amount of their Spanish Mustang heritage. I have a BLM mustang and she is the most sure foot and intelligent horse that i have ever met!
