Concho fell off saddle?
A concho fell off my saddle horn, it is silver. I think it was either glued or held in by the surrounding leather. The leather around the place the concho was was pretty worn down/ torn up, there is a small amount of room in which it can be slid under, but there is no longer enough leather there to keep it in place. How should I go about reattaching it?
I don't know of anyone in my area who could fix it. Should I try to slip it back under the remaining amount of leather and glue it on? What type of glue should I use? There is no evidence on the concho or the saddle of a screw. However there is a tiny bump on the underside of the concho and evidence of it rubbing the saddle horn.
I don't believe we have any saddlers in the area. There are only english barns around. Could a saddler work on any kind of saddle?
It should screw in, it's odd that it doesn't.
If it did glue on, super glue gel has worked for me and held up.
One of my saddles has a horn cap missing and it's been an odd size to find so until I figure it out I just went ahead and vet wrapped the horn to protect the leather from peeling further where the horn cap should be. Vet wrap is always an option and it looks much better than duct tape.
