Have you read the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan?

What's your opinion on it and how old were you when you read it?

I read the first book in my twenties. The series as a whole is ok, but the first several books are filled with so much 'extra' garbage that does nothing to advance the storyline that I almost gave up on it. Thankfully Mr. Jordan seemed to figure that out and streamlined the story in the later few before he passed away.
