What book/books are very similar to the Golden Compass series?
My son loves these books and would like to read more along the same lines....
Man, that's a toughie. There aren't many books like "The Golden Compass." I know it was inspired by Milton's "Paradise Lost," but that's an endeavor even for an adult to read...
"The Book of Lost Things" by John Connolly is similar thematically (both deal with the loss of innocence), and they both involve quests and adventure. If your son isn't totally turned off by fairy tale based novels, he would probably enjoy the book. If he can read the "His Dark Materials" trilogy, he can definitely read "The Book of Lost Things."
