Saddle Pad Memory

I need information about the McClellan civil war saddles?
I have a mcclellan style saddle. I know it's at least 100 years old. I'm trying to figure out what year it was made. Brass fittings, US stamp on covered stirrups. Deep russet color, "2L60" on the circular leather pad where the girth fits on, 4 rivets on the front strap, brass loops 2 each front and back, and brass rectangular fittings on the back. Brass on low horn says "11 1/2 INCH SEAT" (caps used on saddle)
If memory serves, the original girth was strings and leather, kind of a hemp material. I unfortunately left this in my tack box at my parent's home.
Any civil war or saddle buffs have any ideas what year this saddle is? A relative (who died several years ago at 90+ years old) rode on it as a girl, and it was far from new then. I also rode on it as a young girl. By chance, some people found out I had it, and are quite excited, but I want to know what I have before I make any commitments. There was some mumblings about museum piece or use in reenactments.
I think they were used until the late 1890's
Possibly later....

Try "The CorrecTOR Saddle Pad". You can phone Len Brown (816) 625-0333 or http://www.thecorrector.net
You'll talk directly to Len. The pad is expensive but you'll never need another one. We now own 2 & they are worth their weight in gold & then-some. I have QHorse with a sway back (I like to say she has good withers) & this pad has made an incrediable diffrence.
Good Luck
