I need a good christmas present?
i need gifts for my trainer, my mom, and my horse. my trainer is like really cool he helps me alot to improve my riding skills and my relationship with my horse i want to get him something really cool he is a really good roper. (i ride western if that helps?) and my mom just bought a new mare and so she needs the basic horse care stuff we have brushes and everything and i can't buy online without her knowing, she needs a saddle but i can't afford that, then i want to get my horse something she is white not grey she has pink skin and everything so she gets sunburned and really dirty. what should i get her she is REALLY SPOILED!!!
well, for your trainer you can go to hobby lobby and the have a little section where they have nice little crosses that are all pretty and they are perfect to tie to a saddle .. i know that is a popular thing with western riders in my area..... and they cost anywhere from 3 -10 dollars.
and for your mom... you could order a new browband for the bridle they are only 6 dollars. and get some fabric glue and some rhinstones from the arts and crafts shop and glue them ... believe me the glue really holds them on haven't had one pop off yet over a year later.

Is it okay to wear half chaps and jods if you ride Western?
Well, I love the look of half chaps, and I really want a pair, but my riding instructor says that its just for English riding, but my legs get caught on the cantle, and my jeans ride up, and get caught on my ropers. I think that half chaps will fix those problems, and add comfort to my riding. I also think jodhurs would add comfort to my riding, cuz jeans chaf when you're in the saddle for a while. Who are those things just strictly for English riding?
I'm just wondering...or are you only allowed to wear those things if you ride english :S
I know, but I just think that there is a western dress code or somethin..and by "my leg getting caught on the cantle" I mean my pant leg. (wide flare jeans). xD
What if I just wear half chaps? Because I think that would help my lower calfs to stop chaffin on the saddle, and help me dismount easier...in your opinion everyone would I look sillie just wearing half chaps in a Western Saddle? :S
Don't get caught up in classifications or categories. Wear whatever you want and don't pay any attention to anyone. There are no rules when you are not showing and you should be comfortable so you can concentrate on your riding and your horse. Because I ride western and english disciplines, I always ride in breeches and dependent on the weather or time of year, I wear english tall boots or paddock boots, I have beautiful full leather chaps, english and western to wear with my paddock boots. I have some breeches that are full seat leather (I bought them because I was told that they would help with your seat) but after I bought about 6 pair, I decided I did not like the full seats because they restricted my movement too much in some gaits. You could try them, but I like breeches with the leather/suede just on the legs so that I don't feel restricted in my movement with my horse. Again, do what you want. And don't worry about your saddle. Most of my training is done in a treeless endurance saddle that I have specially rigged with english leathers and MDC stirrups. So, you will look fine. Relax and enjoy. Riding and being with your horse is the most wonderful thing you can do in your life. It is not about fashion.
