Reins Only
When is a horse old enough for side reins?
Side reins worked wonders on my TB (they evened out his gaits and helped teach him balance and whatnot). And now my five year old American Cream has some balance and coordination issues. I've seen two and three year olds with side reins (not that I agree with that).
Is it OK to introduce him to side reins at five?
Yeah, When you break horses in your susposse to do them with side reins as it helps there balance as they get older.
Side reins are really good (as you know) and im sure no harm will be done to the horse at any age.
Its just a matter of oppinion like i think its fine to have side reins on them as early as possible where as you don't so do what you think is right for your horse after all you know him better than any1.
