how come some colleges' mascots are nothing like their team names?
here are some examples.....
army black knights, mascot: horse
navy midshipmen, mascot: goat
tennessee volunteers, mascot: dog
north carolina tar heels, mascot: ram
alabama crimson tide, mascot: elephant
p.s. i put this under football (american) because i thought it'd help me get more answers.
What kind of mascot is a Tar Heel or a Crimson Tide really going to be? Some things just don't have a good mascot to go with them.
You really won't like my school then, who got rid of the Rebel mascot Colonel Reb and will now probably go with some stupid generic thing like a bear which makes no sense at all.
I do agree that some of them are a little weird, but Tennessee does have a guy who's dressed up as some Daniel Boone-type guy who's the real mascot.
