English girth with Dressage saddle?
Can i use a regular AP girth on a dressage saddle? I know they have specific ones for them because the billets are so long, but I was wondering if it'd be ok using a regular one. also, my horse uses a 50" english girth...so, what size would he be in a dressage girth. I know you can't give me an exact answer, but I'd like to have an estimate. Any answers are appreciated!
No, it will be too long. It won't hold the saddle on.
The dressage girth size you need depends on the length of the billets which varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. The only way to know is to measure.

Saddle for sale- English made Dressage Saddle # 12317
I think I have found "the one"!!!!!!!!! (dressage saddle)?
Okay well I found a few last night that looked great, but in the meantime I have looked around some more while waiting for an email back from the saddle seller I emailed last night.
This saddle I cant find a THING wrong with. Good brand, good quality, affordable price! *excitement* Okay, the only thing is I am about a 16"-17", and it is an 18". But is that a big deal???
Here is the saddle: http://www.equinenow.com/english_saddle-ad-971
It doesnt say the gullet size either, which is a little worrying but I will email them and ask.
What are your opinions on it?
I think it might depend on your build, Meagan. I know for huntseat I take a 16.5 or 17, and I really can't get comfortable in a dressage saddle unless it's at least a 17.5-- 18 is nice for me. Do you ride with slightly shorter or slightly longer stirrups than the norm? Shorter stirrups might indicate you would be more comfortable in a somewhat larger dressage saddle.
But again, I'm not big into dressage as a sport (although I use the techniques with all styles of horses and disciplines, since it's pretty universal in its success!) so don't take my advice over a dressage pro's
.
