Any ideas for a "legends of the old west" haunted house?

The haunted house is an annual event which portrays "local" history. Local includes eastern Wyoming, western South Dakota, western Nebraska, and north eastern Colorado. The time period for this year's event is 1870-1900. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I need more specifics. ie: Wild Bill and the dead man's hand, Calamity Jane transporting prostitutes, and the Hole-in-the-Wall Gang bank robberies.

How about doing a bit on Alfred Packer the Colorado Cannibal . . . either having him in a jail cell or in a set up munching on his companions could be fun.
This is a good resource as well http://www.oldwestlibrary.com/OWL/owevents.htm
I'm sorry I'm not more of a history buff . . . you might want to repost in history to find more ideas. Good luck with your haunted house!

What is there to do along these stretches of road in Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota?

Hi there! I've done some googling in regards to my question but was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations in south central and south western Minnesota, northern Iowa, and southeastern South Dakota? I'm trying to go to all 50 states so I'm doing little road trips here and there, and this weekend am flying into Minneapolis and then will drive south into Mason City IA and then west to De Smet SD but am looking for fun things to do along the highway (or within a reasonable drive). I will be on 35 S down to Mason City, 90 W towards SD, 29 N in SD, and then the random US 212 E driving from SD back to Minneapolis. I'm doing the Little House stuff in De Smet, but anything else, especially on that long drive back through Minnesota, would be great because I don't want to be just driving all day. Thanks!

Hi! Love your goal. I'm doing the same thing. My next trip will take me to WY, MT & ID.

I looked at the map in regards to the route that you plan on taking. I've been through IA, and other than being able to cross it off my list, I really can't recommend it as a fun place to go. The uncontrollable screaming started about an hour into the state and didn't stop until I hit Colorado. It's really really boring. So keep your expectations low. I had the same response when I crossed Kansas. Although, if you can catch a storm when you are in Iowa - it's fantastic. It's so flat that you can see it very far away and its beautiful. I drove across SD and completely skipped the section you are heading to, and drove to the western side of the state. Not sure what kind of time restraints you've got, but the Black Hills are absolutely incredible. I went to a wild horse sanctuary, saw the Badlands, did caves, saw herds of bison, prairie dogs and so much cool stuff. I know it isn't in your plans, but I highly recommend you taking a couple days to check it out if its possible.

Something you might want to check out that will be close to you:
Pipestone National Monument (Minnesota) http://www.nps.gov/pipe/

Very cool if you like history, cultural stuff. They have demonstrations there too - always fun.
