Crosby Saddle
Did Crosby saddles go out of business?

A few years ago someone told me that they don't make Crosby's anymore, and they were replaced by a company called Excelle or something. But I've been looking for some used Crosby's lately and I've found some online stores selling some new looking Crosbys. Any idea what the story is? Are these new Crosbys fitting like the older ones, because I know the Excelle didn't have the same fit the old Crosbys did even though they were supposed to be nearly identical.

New Crosby's are readily available. Sounds like a crazy rumor to me! :)
All saddle makers are constantly changing the details of how saddles are made according to new knowledge gained about how the horse's body works biomechanically, new manufacturing processes, and new materials, etc., so probably the new Crosby's won't be exactly like the old ones, but the idea is to make them better! You'll never know until you try one!

BTW, I have an older one for sale cheap!

Used Saddle for Sale- Crosby Prix St. George # 12852

Is $400 a good price for a crosby?

My friends cousin's friend has a barley used crosby saddle. It is a few seat sizes to small and she was looking to sell it. My friend knew I was looking for a new saddle and talked to her cousin about the crosby. Her cousins friend said she would sell the saddle for $400 to me. It was used 2 times and she has had it for about a year. She conditioners it every month so it is in PERFECT condition. But, is a crosby saddle a good saddle? Will I be getting my money's worth out of it? I really liked he saddle but looks can be deceiving. So what do you think, should I get it or not? thanks!
It fits me and the horse PERFECT! I already LOVE it. Also I don't really want a used saddle with the exception of this one because it is so nice. The other ones that are cheap on the other website are old and gross. srry...

At $400, you are paying about half price depending on the model (it could be a quarter of the original cost), and YES, you will be getting your money's worth.

Check the fit of the saddle on your horse certainly, but don't try to talk the saddle down any more; that would be an insult on this very special deal.
