Help finding a college dance competition?
I am starting a modern dance competition group at my college and am having trouble finding a website or directory to competitions around the country. It is a modern group so I am not looking for cheerleading or pom types of competitions.
I have not heard of any dance competitions for college dance ensembles that are set up the same way as your typical dance competitions. In fact, that culture of dance as almost a competitive sport is antithetical to the mission of most college dance programs where dance is treated strictly as an art form. The closest you're going to find, I believe, are the regional conferences and national festival that are sponsored by the American College Dance Festival Association:

You should look through their site to see if this is something your group could get involved in. However, note that: "The American College Dance Festival Association's primary focus is to support and promote the wealth of talent and creativity that is prominent throughout college and university dance departments." The operative word there is "departments."
