Cheap Dressage Saddles

Cheap Dressage Saddles

Cheap dressage saddles!!!!?

Ok, so I really want to be able to get a better--and therefore more expensisve horse. So, I need to cut back the costs of my tack and such. Right now, I don't compete and just need a well balanced, comfortable for the horse, and fairly low maintinance (in the way of fitting that is, because I don't have a saddle fitter up here and would be VERY expensive if I had to drive to one or v/v every couple months for adjustments.) And I would really prefer it to be around $1000, definately not above $2000. And I absolutely hate to feel locked in a position and can't move. I was thinking of M. Toulouse, thornhill, or wintec. Any suggestions?
The problem is there are no tack stores even close to where I live. Therefore, I can't try out the saddle unless I order one online from a tack store. And I can't get flocking adjustments.

I'm sure you've been told this before, but...

Used. Look at used saddles. You can find some really nice used saddles for not that much money. I found a Stubben that looked to be in really nice shape for less than 200 bucks. :P It was pretty ancient.
Not that you need to go that old.

Call around or search the internet, and see if any of the tack stores in your area does saddle restorations. They might have a great saddle at a great deal for you.

where can i get a really cheap dressage saddle and bridle?

i dont have a whole lot of money. but i want a prettly cheap saddle and bridle to show my TB in dressage. what about jumping tack? like hunter jumpers? again i dont have a load of money. where do you get yours at?

Used tack sales are great, check with your local 4-H or County Extension. I have gotten some stuff on ebay, but sometimes the quality is just so so. Does your area have a local dressage group website? They sometimes have classifieds. Also search Craig's List and post a WTB (want to buy)ad. GL!

  1. Hi, alot of time has passed, but I had to add my comments. I’ve worked with George for almost 18 months. He is a small business, one man with one assistant. He travels all over the country and spends as much time with each individual person as they need. He comes to my facility because a couple of us have a custom made saddle, but each visit he sees others who have different saddles. He does not pressure anyone to buy his saddles. He is honest, informative and unbelievably patient. The two other women who he met with on this most recent visit, both with dressage saddles by other makers, met with him, where he spent 90 minutes going over their horses, their body build, their saddles and answered all their questions and concerns……they walked away with a wealth of knowledge and can’t wait to see him again. He is only able to visit us every 3-4 months because he is traveling all over the country, as well as to England.Recently I did invest in a custom saddle but was never once pressured. The saddle arrived when promised, and it fit exactly how it should upon arrival. Long story short, the saddle fit me and my mare perfectly. He doesn’t just build a saddle to fit your horse, he takes into account your build and the way you ride. Before this, he had always happily fitted my previous saddle…. and provided me with the same amount of attention answering questions as if I had purchased a saddle from him.Not anyone person can please everyone. There will always be disappointed clients no matter who you use. I will say that honesty goes along way with me, and George, along with his vast knowledge of the equine and human anatomy, is extremely honest…with the good and bad….and has great respect and compassion for horses….. Our horses adore him.
