What kind of horse should I buy?
I am 15 yrs old and have been riding for about 6 yrs and I am looking to buy a horse. I know all the costs and what I need to buy (saddle, bridle,grooming etc) but I don't know what kind. Please help!
Depends completely on what you want to do with the horse! I would aim for something aged around 8-12 years old and well broken in, that way you won't have to deal with too much in the way of basic training. A first horse should be one that's already seen and done it all so you don't have to worry about that side of things!
As for "type" it depends on where you live (in Europe in terms of breed you'll get a lot more native European breeds, whereas in the US it's a lot of TBs and QHs!), what you want to do (compete? pony club? just a happy hacker?) and how tall you are/how much you weigh!
Speak to a trusted trainer or your instructor and get them to help find you your perfect horse, they'll be able to spot things you may not be able to, such as subtle faults and problems that could lead to disappointment down the line!
