What Bit do i use for a 3rd level Green barrel racing Welsh cob chestnut pony?
I need a bit for my pony. her name is dolly and she is 13. she is a welsh cob chestnut 3rd level green pony. I am 12 in the middle of barrel racing. dolly used to be part of a carrige team for weddings. she wont stop when i tell her and when ever i tighten her cinch she gets anncy. how do i fix her!
The short answer regarding the bit is, her not stopping is a training problem. You ought to train her in the arena in something mild such as a snaffle (I mean an actual snaffle, not a shank bit with a broken mouthpiece, which isn't a snaffle at all). Then you can compete her in a shank bit with a ported mouthpiece. What you really ought to do is get your parents to pay for you to have a couple of lessons with a good trainer who specializes in teaching kids.
As for the girthyness - she's probably like that because somewhere along in her training, someone was just cranking her cinch up very tightly without giving her a chance to get used to it, by tightening it up incrementally (probably whoever broke her to ride, or the subsequent owners). You have to go slowly when tightening up her cinch, but at this point in her life, it's undoubtedly also become an ingrained habit due to her expectation of having the cinch tightened too tightly too quickly. Good luck with your pony. I love Welsh cobs.
PS Her breed and color are irrelevent (as is her age, to some degree). But it does help us picture her in our minds . . .

Any way to barrel race in college?
i am a barrel racer and i really want to keep competing in college but i dont' have a horse i compete on my friends..so i've kinda settled with just trying out for the equestrian team..i've started taking lessons in horsemanship at a nearby barn..i just want to make sure that there isnt' some way that i can still barrel race in college for free without owning a horse before i totally commit to the equestrian team..i dont' want to miss out on any barrel racing if its possible to still be able to.
Where are you going to school? I show on the Equestrian Team for GVSU here in Michigan and we do not have a Rodeo Team. But MSU and FSU do.. So it depends on the college you're going to. Otherwise you could try to find a barn or trainer in the area who does barrel racing, and take lessons or perhaps even work your way up to helping out in exchange for riding. There are limitless possibilities if you really want to do something, especially something with horses.
