Boarders - How do you deal with barn drama?!?
I haul my horses to a friends boarding place occasionally so we can trail ride together. I did it tonight, and man I came when there was some drama goin on! A girl got to the barn, and someone was using her $1200 Bob marshall barrel saddle. She flipped out, and it was a mess. I don't blame her though.
How do you deal with this stuff on a daily basis? I honestly think i'd go mad. I have my own place, so I can have my own rules and not worry about anyone else.
I agree Laluna! I have my own place, but last year I agreed to board a few people and lets just say it didnt end well. my things would go missing, I'd wake up at 11pm and the lights in the barn would be on, poop in the arena etc

I board and rarely have any drama. Our farm is small, quiet and private.
At the place prior there was a bit more drama, because it catered to beginners and mostly children and was run by a nut that couldn't organize a picnic or lead her way out of a paper bag.
At the one prior to that (which was huge by the way, with 40+ lesson horses, several boarders and two standing studs) also had many kids but had very little horse-related drama. Of course girls will be girls and they would snipe at each other about who was richer or prettier or better, but this barn had rules for most things that WOULD be followed or you'd be out of a barn. It was surprisingly organized despite all the animals, parents, kids and personnel. We'd have mass sleep overs the night before shows, summer and day camps-- the works and never had so much as a soul in the barn past lights out (without permission) or a boarder with tack out of place.
ADD- It was AWESOME! I looked forward to putting on my overalls and muck boots for every work-filled weekend. Being a poor kid and working my lessons off taught me so much. I rubbed elbows with some pretty elite equestrians in my area, made lots of friends and a few enemies and have so many great memories of that place. It was this horse-crazy kid's dream come true.
